Wide receiver Anquan Boldin is interested in returning to the San Francisco 49ers next season.

The 35-year-old veteran wants to continue playing next season and possibly beyond and is not yet thinking about retirement. Though he'll become a free agent in March, he would like to remain with the 49ers despite the team's struggles in 2015.

"I like it here," Boldin said. "I like the people here. The organization has been great to me. I love my teammates. I enjoy them. And I have roots here, a lot of relationships that I've built in this community.

"When we cross that bridge, we'll cross that bridge. ... No matter what age you are, you want to win a championship. That goes without saying. (But) it's deeper than that, especially when you have been somewhere for a certain amount of years. You have roots."

Boldin could reach a milestone on Sunday. He enters the game against the Detroit Lions with 999 career catches. One reception will make him the 13th player in NFL history to reach 1,000.

If Boldin makes one catch Sunday, he would hit 1,000 in his 185th NFL game, making him the fifth fastest to reach that plateau, trailing only Marvin Harrison (167 games), Andre Johnson (168), Jerry Rice (181) and Larry Fitzgerald (182).

Boldin's 999 receptions have accounted for 13,097 yards and 73 touchdowns with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens and 49ers. This season, he has 59 catches for 691 yards and three touchdowns.

"I honestly came into this league wanting to play 10 years," Boldin said. "Ten years flew by. I'm at this point now, but when I feel like I'm ready to give it up, I will, but right now, it's not the time."
