What we learned about the Raiders:

1. Quarterback Derek Carr appears headed for greatness, but he's still far from a finished product in just his second NFL season. Carr was intercepted three times in the fourth quarter Sunday in a 34-20 loss to Kansas City. "Derek is young," Raiders veteran safety Charles Woodson said. "He's going to learn from every experience he has on the field. Today will be no different. He'll have time to reflect on what happened. He'll bounce back. He'll be fine. He'll learn from this."

2. Their hopes for a wild-card playoff spot in the AFC are all but dead after losing to Kansas City. At 5-7, the Raiders trail five teams in the wild-card race, including the 7-5 Chiefs, and are tied with one other. "We were treating it as if it was our playoffs," safety Charles Woodson said. "We needed to win. Basically we needed to win out. For us it was that playoff atmosphere. It was a rival, it was the Chiefs. You had your chances. Everybody understands what's at stake at this point. Felt like the team was building on something and felt like we'd get this win today. It was tough."

3. Dropped passes keep marring what otherwise has been a spectacular rookie season for wide receiver Amari Cooper. Late in the first quarter Sunday in a 34-20 loss to Kansas City, the Raiders went for it on fourth-and-2 at the Chiefs' 35. Quarterback Derek Carr threw a strike to Cooper on a quick slant, and the ball bounced off his hands.

Etc.:

--QB Derek Carr completed 31 of 48 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns but also had three interceptions, all in the fourth quarter Sunday in a 34-20 loss to Kansas City. Carr was one interception shy of his career high set on Oct. 12, 2014, against San Diego.

--S Charles Woodson forced a fumble and recovered two fumbles Sunday against Kansas City. He set up a touchdown late in the first half by stripping the ball from Chiefs TE Travis Kelce and returning 38 yards to the Kansas City 36.

--TE Lee Smith caught his first touchdown pass of the season Sunday against Kansas City, a 5-yard strike from QB Derek Carr in the third quarter of a 34-20 loss. Smith, known most for his blocking, has 11 catches for 53 yards this season.
