Report: OF Chris Young lands with Red Sox

Veteran outfielder Chris Young reached agreement with the Boston Red Sox on a two-year, $13 million contract, according to a FoxSports.com report on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Yankees, batting a combined .257 with 17 home runs and 52 RBIs. He played in 140 games in 2015 and hit .252 with 14 homers and 42 RBIs.

Young was particularly effective against left-handers this past season with a .327 batting average and a .927 on-base plus slugging percentage.

In 10 major league seasons, Young has a .235 average with 169 homers and 528 RBIs. He spent seven years with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he was an All-Star in 2010, before going to the New York Mets in 2014 and then the Yankees.

Young has been particularly effective as a visiting hitter at Fenway Park during his career with a .344 batting average in 21 games there.
