The University of Miami interviewed Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and former coaches Greg Schiano and Butch Davis for its head coaching vacancy, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

The Sun-Sentinel reported that former Georgia coach Mark Richt also will be interviewed for the opening at Miami.

Mullen is the only one of the four who's currently a head coach. He has spent the last seven seasons with the Bulldogs and has compiled a 54-35 record, leading the program to six postseason appearances.

The 64-year-old Davis is a former Miami coach who is working at ESPN as an analyst. He has not coached since his firing by North Carolina in 2011.

Schiano also is an ESPN analyst who was previously the head coach at Rutgers and with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Miami is seeking a replacement for Al Golden, who was fired Oct. 26 after the Hurricanes' 58-0 loss to Clemson. He compiled a 32-25 record in four-plus seasons there.

Larry Scott took over as the interim coach at Miami after Golden was ousted and completed the season.

Richt said after his ouster at Georgia on Monday that he plans to continue coaching. In addition to Miami, Richt also is reported to be on the wish list at Maryland, which is looking to replace interim coach Mike Locksley after firing Randy Edsall during the season. Inside MD Sports reported that a meeting between Richt and Maryland officials could take place as early as Wednesday.

The Washington Post reported that Locksley was given the chance to interview for the permanent position.
