FLORHAM PARK - N.J. - Barring the unlikeliest playoff matchup in history, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins won't play each other again this season. Perhaps by then tensions will have cooled between Jets safety Calvin Pryor and Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Pryor knocked Dolphins wide receiver Rishard Matthews out of the game with a crushing hit in the first quarter of the Jets' 38-20 win on Sunday. Matthews remained on the ground for a few minutes before walking off the field slowly with back and rib injuries.

Pryor immediately celebrated the big hit, though he went over to Matthews after the wide receiver got up and patted him on the helmet. After the game, a Dolphins television reporter asked Tannehill what he thought of Pryor's initial reaction.

"I didn't notice it, honestly," Tannehill said. "I was just worried about Rishard. I heard some guys talking about it on the sideline. That's kind of classless move to celebrate while a guy's injured. Obviously it was a good hit, a clean hit, but to celebrate when a guy's down, it's kind of a classless move."

The never-shy Pryor defended himself on Twitter later Sunday night.

"Throw a better ball next time @ryantannehill1 teammate would've never got injured!" Tweeted Pryor. The throw from Tannehill was behind Matthews, who got a hand on it just before being hit.

Pryor then Tweeted: "I was definitely celebrating the great play I made. I would never celebrate someone getting injured during the game. C'mon now."

On Monday, head coach Todd Bowles said he didn't think Pryor was celebrating Tannehill's injury and that the rift between Pryor and Tannehill was " ... just miscommunication."

--For the second time this season, a loss to the Jets resulted in a coaching shakeup for the Miami Dolphins.

Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor was fired by the Dolphins Monday morning, less than 24 hours after the Jets' 38-20 victory at MetLife Stadium. The Dolphins rushed for just 12 yards in the game, the fewest ever surrendered by the Jets.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns in the defeat but all three scores and 238 of his yards came after the Jets took a 21-0 lead. Miami's last two touchdowns were scored in the final five minutes, including one with five seconds left.

Interim head coach Dan Campbell reportedly had the final say in Lazor's firing. Campbell, of course, was promoted to head coach on Oct. 5, the day Joe Philbin was fired following a 27-14 loss to the Jets in London.

NOTES: Cornerback Marcus Williams (MCL sprain) is day-to-day according to head coach Todd Bowles after being injured while returning an interception in the first quarter of Sunday's 38-20 win over the Dolphins. ESPN reported Williams was week-to-week but Bowles said Williams could play this Sunday against the New York Giants. Williams leads the Jets with five interceptions this season. ... Cornerback Darrelle Revis (concussion) remained in the concussion protocol Monday, a day after he was inactive for the Jets' 38-20 win over the Dolphins. Head coach Todd Bowles said he believed Revis participated in a bit of physical activity Monday but that it was too soon to determine if he might be able to play this Sunday against the Giants. The concussion is the second known one of Revis' NFL career. He missed one game due to a concussion in 2012. ... Linebacker Calvin Pace (abdominal strain) was injured Sunday during the Jets' 38-20 win over the Dolphins. Head coach Todd Bowles said Pace was day-to-day and that he'd need to see how he practices at the end of the week before determining if he can play this Sunday against the Giants. Pace has two sacks and a fumble recovery this season.
