Bears replace Thomas Gafford with Patrick Scales

The Chicago Bears waived long snapper Thomas Gafford on Saturday and replaced him by signing Patrick Scales.

Gafford was replaced after playing all 11 games this season. He signed a one-year, $870,000 base-salary contract that also included an $80,000 signing bonus.

Gafford spent the previous six years with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Scales has played with the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers since entering the NFL in 2011.
