Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver apparently suffered a season-ending knee injury during the team's Thanksgiving Day practice on Thursday.

Culliver tore the ACL and MCL in the knee, NFL.com reported. Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed that Culliver was injured but didn't go into specifics.

"He hurt his knee a little bit out there," Gruden said. "He jumped up for the ball, landed on it."

Culliver, who signed a four-year, $32 million contract as a free agent in March, started six games for the Redskins this season. He had 16 tackles and one pass deflection before suffering the season-ending injury.

Knee and shoulder injuries and a suspension limited his effectiveness this year for the Redskins. The shoulder was hurt in last week's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Washington now has lost six players to injuries this season: tight end Niles Paul, left guard Shawn Lauvao, center Kory Lichtensteiger, linebacker Junior Galette and safety Duke Ihenacho.

The Redskins (4-6) face the NFC East-leading New York Giants (5-5) on Sunday.
