EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Jets running back Zac Stacy and Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams missed time during Thursday night's NFL game for health reasons.

Stacy was declared out of for the rest of the game after sustaining an ankle injury while returning a kickoff as time expired in the first half at MetLife Stadium.

The kickoff by Bills kicker Dan Carpenter bounced near the left sideline, where Stacy picked it up with three seconds left. He was almost immediately swallowed up by a group of Bills. Stacy didn't get up and was tended to by the Jets' training staff as the teams left the field for halftime.

The aborted return was the only touch of the game for Stacy, who replaced rookie wide receiver Devin Smith on kickoffs after Smith's fumble of a Carpenter kickoff earlier in the second quarter was returned for a touchdown by Bills safety Duke Williams.

Meanwhile, the Bills' Williams did not play most of the first half and was listed as questionable to return in the second half due to illness.

Williams had no statictics during his brief time on the field. He was listed as probable entering the game due to a calf injury.
