Oakland Athletics promote Billy Beane, name David Forst GM

The A's promoted Billy Beane to vice president of baseball operations, and they named David Forst general manager, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday.

Forst served as Beane's assistant the past 12 years, and he has been with the A's for 16 years.

This move has been in the works for a while, according to the Chronicle, and it's unclear whether the change in titles will have any effect on how the A's go about their business or make decisions.

Beane apparently will still have the final say on major moves.
