A Chicago Cubs postseason just doesn't seem natural without infamous fan Steve Bartman.

It's been 12 years since that heartbreaking Game 6 loss in the NL Championship Series when Bartman tried to catch a foul ball that Cubs left fielder Moises Alou appeared to be able to catch. The Cubs were leading the Marlins in the eighth inning and were only five outs away from playing in the World Series.

That is until Bartman's gaffe. The Cubs went on to lose the game and blow a 3-2 series lead, and they haven't won a postseason contest since.

While Bartman never spoke publicly, Cubs fans are now trying to raise money for Bartman to attend the team's wild-card game,

A GoFundMe page was created and nearly half of the $5,000 raised to send to the Cubs. The money, according to the page, will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association if Bartman decides not to attend.

Frank Murtha, a friend of Bartman, told ESPN that Bartman won't be going to the game.

"He has no intention of being at the wild-card game," Murtha said. "Steve is glad the money will go to a good cause and will be cheering on the Cubs as always."

The wild-card game most likely will be played in Pittsburgh -- there is a slim chance the Cubs could host the game. Either way, Bartman will not attend.
