Chicago Bears deal DE Jared Allen to Carolina Panthers

Defensive end Jared Allen was traded to the Carolina Panthers from the Chicago Bears, who receive a conditional draft pick in return.

The teams agreed to the deal Monday pending Allen's physical.

Allen leads the NFL with 134 sacks since 2004 and played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings before signing with the Bears prior to the 2014 season.

Allen gives the Panthers a pass-rushing end with Charles Johnson (calf) expected to miss at least one week.

Allen moved to outside linebacker this spring in the Bears' transition to a 3-4 defense under coach John Fox.
