Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard was found to be toting a handgun in his carry-on bag last Friday at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport but was allowed to hand it over to an associate after he was detained.

Howard will not face any criminal charges as a result of the incident. The gun belonged to him.

The gun was found in Howard's possession by Transportation Security Administration officials at Terminal E, Houston Police Department spokeswoman Kese Smith said. Howard was detailed by law enforcement for a short time but was released and allowed to board a later flight.

The Rockets said in a statement that they were unaware of what happened and seeking more information.
