Boykin, a fourth-round pick by the Eagles in 2012, has played in 48 games (six starts), recording seven interceptions and 32 pass breakups.
The Steelers invested two drafts picks in cornerbacks this year, but second-rounder Senquez Golson is sidelined by a shoulder injury.
The Eagles had an excess of corners, with big-money addition Byron Maxwell, veteran Nolan Carroll and four rookies.
