ST. LOUIS -- All-Star left fielder Matt Holliday of the St. Louis Cardinals left Wednesday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds after one inning, the victim of his second right quad strain in less than two months.

Holliday, attempting to beat out a double play ball in the bottom of the first, appeared to start limping two-thirds of the way to first. Holliday got to the bag before the relay throw, but missed the base and limped directly into the dugout.

Cincinnati first baseman Joey Votto tagged first with Holliday lying on the dugout floor to finish a 5-4-3 double play.

Holliday was replaced in left field by starting first baseman Stephen Piscotty, with Mark Reynolds taking over at first and batting third.
