The Legion of Boom, the stout defensive backfield of the Seattle Seahawks, could be missing three of its four starters from February's Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots when the team begins training camp Friday.

Strong safety Kam Chancellor informed general manager John Schneider and team officials that he wants a new contract and is "strongly considering" a holdout, NFL Network reported Wednesday. Chancellor has three years remaining on the four-year, $28 million extension he signed in April 2013. He is due to make $4.55 million in 2015.

Already the Seahawks are unlikely to have All-Pro free safety Earl Thomas to start camp. Cornerback Byron Maxwell signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, leaving only All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman as a sure thing when the NFC champions take the field Friday.

Even Sherman is recovering from injury after playing with a hyperextended elbow in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers and the Super Bowl defeat to the Patriots.

The Seahawks have made concessions to training camp demands in the past, most recently working through a contract adjustment with running back Marshawn Lynch. But Schneider has a policy of not completely redoing deals with more than one year left.

There are multiple veterans in the Seahawks' queue for more money, with priority being given to quarterback Russell Wilson and middle linebacker Bobby Wagner. Wilson and the Seahawks are in talks to complete a long-term deal, but the quarterback set an artificial deadline of Friday to finalize a new pact. Wagner, like Wilson, can become a free agent at the end of the 2015 season. The team and the All-Pro linebacker are working to try to complete a deal this week.

Defensive end Michael Bennett has asked the Seahawks for a restructured contract and has hinted that he might hold out as well.
