The St. Louis Cardinals activated All-Star outfielder Matt Holliday from the 15-day disabled list Friday.

Holliday, who is just one home run shy of 275 for his career, reached base safely in an NL-record 45 consecutive games to begin the 2015 season.

In 52 games this season, Holliday is batting .303 with three home runs and 26 RBIs. He was voted a starter on the National League All-Star team for the first time in his career, but did not play due to injury. It was his seventh All-Star selection overall.

The Cardinals also optioned left-hander Nick Greenwood to Triple-A Memphis. He never appeared in a game this season during a brief call-up.
