Kevin Garnett will remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves, agreeing to a new contract with his original team Tuesday.

Garnett, acquired from the Brooklyn Nets after winning the NBA title as a member of the Celtics, plans to play at least one more season -- his 21st -- with the Wolves, who traded him to Boston.

Garnett, 39, played just five games due to injury following the trade in February that brought him back to Minneapolis at a salary of $12 million.

He was seeking a multi-year deal and did not seek other contract offers, intending to stay with the Wolves.

The offer is expected to be for approximately $7 million-$8 million for 2015-16.

More than his on-court presence, Garnett is an important locker room leader for a number of top picks on the Minnesota roster, including 2015 top pick Karl-Anthony Towns, 2014 No. 1 Andrew Wiggins and 2013 No. 1 Anthony Bennett.
