The Atlanta Hawks and forward Paul Millsap have agreed to terms of a three-year deal worth $59 million, according to several reports Wednesday.

The contract includes a player option after two years, ESPN.com reported.

The Orlando Magic had offered Millsap a maximum $80 million over four years, according to ESPN.com and CBSSports.com, but he chose a shorter deal -- presumably to take advantage of the expected spike in the salary cap in 2017.

Millsap, 30, has developed into one of the NBA's most complete forwards in six years with the Utah Jazz and two in Atlanta. Last season, he averaged 16.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Atlanta lost DeMarre Carroll to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday but also traded for center Tiago Splitter on Wednesday, giving them a frontcourt rotation of Millsap, Al Horford and Splitter.
