Bruins remain busy, deal Lucic to Kings

The Boston Bruins continued to stay active ahead of Friday night's NHL Entry Draft, trading forward Milan Lucic to the Los Angeles Kings.

The Bruins will receive Los Angeles' first-round pick (No. 13 overall), goaltender Martin Jones and defensive prospect Colin Miller for Lucic, who tallied 18 goals and 26 points over 81 games last season for the Bruins.

Boston already acquired Calgary's first-round pick (No. 15 overall) as well as a pair of second-round selections (Nos. 45 and 52) in exchange for defenseman Dougie Hamilton earlier Friday, and reportedly re-signed blueliner Adam McQuaid to a four-year, $11 million deal.

The Bruins also traded the rights to forward Carl Soderberg to Colorado on Thursday. Soderberg signed a five-year deal with the Avalanche on Friday.

According to ESPN, the Bruins retained nearly half of Lucic's salary to make the deal possible. Lucic is entering the final year of his three-year, $18 million contract, which has a cap hit of $6 million.

A second-round draft pick of the Bruins in 2006, Lucic has compiled 139 goals and 342 points over 566 games spanning eight seasons in Boston and was a member of their 2011 Stanley Cup championship team.

Jones, 25, has served as Jonathan Quick's backup over his first two NHL seasons and has compiled a 16-11-2 record with a .923 save percentage and 1.99 goals-against average.

Miller, 22, was drafted in the fifth round by the Kings in 2012 and recorded 19 goals and 33 assists in his second season with the Calder Cup champion Manchester Monarchs, Los Angeles' AHL affiliate.
