Liverpool set to sign Milner

Liverpool have reached a deal to sign midfielder James Milner on a free transfer from Manchester City, the Merseyside club announced on Thursday.

Milner, 29, will join the Reds when his contract with City expires on July 1.

He spent five years with the Citizens, winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup, while making 125 appearances and scoring 18 goals during his tenure with the club.

The rugged midfielder joined City from Aston Villa in 2010 and has also spent time with Newcastle United and Leeds United.
