Red Sox place Nava on DL

The Boston Red Sox placed outfielder/first baseman Daniel Nava on the 15-day disabled list amongst a flurry of roster moves on Thursday.

Nava lands on the DL with a left thumb strain. He has batted .159 with seven RBI in 27 games this season.

The Red Sox also added outfielder Carlos Peguero to the 25-man roster, recalled pitchers Eduardo Rodriguez and Robbie Ross Jr. from Triple-A Pawtucket, optioned pitcher Heath Hembree to Pawtucket and designated infielder Jeff Bianchi for assignment.

Peguero, who was acquired from the Rangers on Wednesday, batted .186 with four home runs and nine RBI over 30 games this season.

Ross has posted a 5.14 earned run average with nine strikeouts over 14 relief appearances over two stints with the Red Sox this season, while Rodriguez has yet to make his major league debut.
