Moreno headlines Californian Stakes

Charles Town Classic winner Moreno heads a field of nine older horses going 1 1/8 miles in Saturday's $200,000 Californian Stakes at Santa Anita Park.

Trained by Eric Guillot, Moreno has drawn post 7 with Cornelio Velasquez again riding. Velasquez was aboard when the 5-year-old gelding scored in the $1.5 million Classic on April 18.

"The horse hasn't done a whole lot wrong. People misunderstand how good this horse is," Guillot said after winning the Charles Town Classic.

Owned by Southern Equine Stables, Moreno began 2015 with a second to Shared Belief in the Santa Anita Handicap and a third in the New Orleans Handicap behind Call Me George.

Moreno has four wins, eight seconds and four thirds in 26 lifetime starts for $2,926,940.

Here is the field for the Californian Stakes in post position order: Big Cazanova, Tyler Baze; Bailoutbobby, Drayden Van Dyke; You Know I Know, Edwin Maldonado; Hard Aces, Victor Espinoza; Lideris, Joe Talamo; Blue Tone, Kent Desormeaux; Moreno, Cornelio Velasquez; Catch a Flight, Gary Stevens and Sammy Mandeville, Rafael Bejarano.

The Californian has an approximate post time of 7 p.m. ET.
