Hutchison pitches Blue Jays past White Sox

Drew Hutchison tossed a four-hit shutout while Justin Smoak keyed the offense with a two-run homer and three RBI, as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 6-0 on Monday.

Hutchison (4-1) struck out eight and walked nobody while throwing 96 pitches in his second career shutout. The other came at Texas on May 16, 2014.

Chris Colabello knocked in two runs during a four-run first for Toronto. Josh Donaldson hit a solo homer and scored three times.

Hector Noesi (0-4) made his first start since May 2 and allowed five runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. The right- hander had lost his first three starts before being moved to the bullpen.

The White Sox, who had a five-game road winning streak snapped, started an 11- game road trip on Monday.

The Blue Jays scored four runs in the first. Jose Reyes led off with a double and Donaldson walked. Edwin Encarnacion then hit a grounder to second baseman Emilio Bonifacio, who flipped the ball to shortstop Alexei Ramirez in hopes of starting a double play. A spinning Ramirez failed to touch second, though his throw to first was in time. Colabello followed with a two-run single and Smoak added a two-run homer.

Donaldson hit a solo homer in the second to make it 5-0.

Toronto scored another run in the eighth after Chicago failed to turn another double play. With men on first and second and no outs, Russell Martin hit a grounder to Ramirez. The shortstop bobbled the ball and was only able to get the out at second. Smoak followed with an RBI single to right-center field.

Hutchison retired the final 11 batters he faced.

The Blue Jays activated Reyes from the 15-day disabled list prior to the game and optioned infielder Munenori Kawasaki to Triple-A Buffalo. Reyes was placed on the disabled list with a fractured left rib on April 28 ... White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia left in the second inning with a recurrence of soreness in his right knee ... Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista missed his second straight game due a nagging shoulder injury.
