Milwaukee Brewers P Smith ejected for foreign substance

Brewers pitcher Will Smith was ejected in the seventh inning of Thursday's game against Atlanta due to having a foreign substance on his arm.

Smith had come on in relief of starter Matt Garza in the seventh with one out and men on the corners.

He hit Pedro Ciriaco with a pitch before the umpires came out to the mound and crew chief Jim Joyce signaled him to leave the game.

It appeared that Smith had some kind of shiny substance on the forearm of his right arm, which is his catching hand.
