"This step is similar to the policies and practices of professional sports teams," the NYRA said in a statement, "and will not only result in an enhanced experience for Belmont guests, but will further improve access to and from the Belmont property on Saturday."

The 2004 Belmont Stakes has the record for attendance at 120,139, breaking the old mark of 103,222 set two years earlier. The 2014 attendance was 102,199, the third highest in Belmont Stakes history.
