LOS ANGELES, Conn., May 5 (UPI) -- In a text sent to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith Tuesday, Floyd Mayweather said that he'd be willing to fight Manny Pacquiao in a rematch after he recovers from surgery.

"I will fight him in a year after his surgery," Mayweather wrote just days after beating him in one of the most anticipated fights ever via unanimous decision.

Pacquiao is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right rotator cuff located in his shoulder in Los Angeles later this week. He reportedly did not divulge information of his pre-fight injury to the proper authorities, placing him in hot water with the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Mayweather, 38, has just one fight left on his Showtime contract, ESPN reports, and previously intended to retire after his final appearance in the ring in September.

High profile fans like Mike Tyson deemed the bout "underwhelming," echoing similar responses by fans all over the world.

What some consider a "dud" cost at-home fans $100 to watch pay-per-view, some wishing they never paid the bill. According to the Washington Post, it is unlikely a rematch would attract the same amount of attention and rake in the same amount of money.

But if the undefeated fighter insists on a rematch and Pacquaiao agrees, who's to stop him? It doesn't guarantee many will pay to see it.
