LONDON, April 28 (UPI) -- Selfie sticks will no longer be welcome at the Wimbledon tennis tournament, organizers announced Monday.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club, where Wimbledon takes place, has banned the contraptions from the 2015 championships.

Selfie sticks help smartphone users take pictures of themselves. But a spokesman for the club said the sticks do have a "nuisance value" that could "interfere with spectators' enjoyment."

Wimbledon is the latest major venue to ban selfie sticks, which came into widespread use in 2014.

The Kentucky Derby banned selfie sticks, as well as drones, earlier this month, following in the footsteps of Coachella, Lollapalooza and the Smithsonian.
