Zverev, Estrella Burgos open with wins in Munich

Alexander Zverev of Germany and Victor Estrella Burgos of the Dominican Republic won first-round matches Monday at the BMW Open.

Estrella Burgos advanced with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 triumph over Serbia's Viktor Troicki, while Zverev rallied past countryman Benjamin Becker, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Zverev, given a wild card entry this week, could face another German in the second round, if fifth-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber can first get past Jiri Vesely, who is coming off a runner-up finish this past weekend in Bucharest.

Kohlschreiber won this title in 2007 and 2012, and was the runner-up to fellow German Tommy Haas in 2013.

Defending champion Martin Klizan of Slovakia was entered this week, but had to withdraw because of a right wrist injury, while second-seeded Gael Monfils pulled out on Monday because of a knee problem.

This week's top seed is Britain's Andy Murray, who is making his first trip to Munich. He has not played since a loss to Novak Djokovic in the Miami final earlier this month and will take the court for the first time as a married man following his wedding two weeks ago.

Murray received a bye into the second round, as did third-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain and fourth-seeded Belgian David Goffin.
