Cuadras defeats Concepcion, retains WBC super flyweight belt

Carlos Cuadras defeated Luis Concepcion by unanimous decision to retain the WBC world super flyweight title on Saturday night.

Cuadras (32-0-1), who defended his title for a fourth consecutive bout, showed throughout the match that he was the seasoned fighter. He has won two fights since a draw against Jose Salgado.

Cuadras won on the cards by scores of 118-110, 117-111, 117-111.

The 12-round fight marked just the second time in Cuadras' career that the bout went the distance. He defeated Fernando Lumacad by unanimous decision in 2012 in his only other match that went all 12 rounds.

Concepcion (32-4) had not lost since a technical knockout against Hernan Marquez back in 2012 -- snapping a nine-fight winning streak.
