With the victory the Cardinal are into the title game of the tournament on Thursday night and will face the Miami Hurricanes for the title.

As for the Monarchs (27-8), they were paced by Ambrose Mosley with 16 points, followed by Richard Ross with 15. Trey Freeman, who failed to score in the first half, accounted for 13 points, but was a meager 6-of-24 from the field and missed his only two attempts behind the 3-point line.

Stanford opened the meeting on an incredible 25-4 run, the Cardinal holding ODU to a mere 1-of-16 shooting from the floor to start. The Monarchs were able to put on a run of their own with 12 straight points, but still the deficit was double digits with 12 minutes gone by in the first half.

Refusing to pack it in after the dismal start, the Monarchs managed to close to within six at the break, 33-27.

A layup by Ross at the 11:03 mark of the second half gave the Monarchs their first lead of the night at 47-46, but ODU fell behind again shortly thereafter and was unable to recover as it scored only one point over the final two minutes.

The Cardinal, which shot 48.7 percent from the floor overall and was 7-of-14 on the perimeter, won this tournament two times previously (1991 and 2012).

Randle entered the night with 2,326 career points, needing just 11 to move past Todd Lichti for the all-time scoring lead at Stanford.
