Murray moves on in Miami

Andy Murray was an easy third-round winner Sunday at the $5.4 million Miami Open.

The third-seeded Murray beat 27th-seeded Santiago Giraldo by a 6-3, 6-4 margin on the hardcourts at Crandon Park.

Murray is closing in on a significant landmark. The Scot needs just one more victory to reach 500 wins (499-155). He would become the ninth active player and the 46th man in the Open Era to achieve the feat.

The 27-year-old Murray has captured Miami titles in 2009 and 2013 and was the 2012 runner-up to Novak Djokovic, who also topped the British star in January's Australian Open final.

Next up for Murray is No. 15 seed Kevin Anderson, who handled 24th-seeded Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 6-4.
