Simona Halep advanced to the fourth round of the Miami Open on Sunday with a straight-set win over Italy's Camila Giorgi.
The third-seeded Halep continued her strong start to the 2015 season with a 6-4, 7-5 third-round victory and will next play the winner between former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka and Italy's Flavia Pennetta.
Halep captured last week's title in Indian Wells and is bidding for her fourth title of the year. The Romanian also won the season-opener in Shenzhen and claimed the Dubai crown after her lone loss of the year -- a quarterfinal setback to Ekaterina Makarova at the Australian Open.
Top-seeded Serena Williams is also on Sunday's schedule, taking on fellow American CiCi Bellis. The seven-time Miami champion opened her stay at Crandon Park on Saturday with a second-round win over Monica Niculescu, a match that was rescheduled from Friday because of rain.
The 2015 Miami champ will earn $900,400.
