Raiders sign Trent Richardson

The Oakland Raiders signed running back Trent Richardson on Tuesday.

Richardson was cut by the Indianapolis Colts last week after two lackluster seasons with the organization.

Richardson, a former No. 3 overall pick and All-American out of Alabama, was acquired by Indianapolis in a September 2013 deal that sent a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns.

In two seasons with the Colts, Richardson played in 29 games (20 starts) and rushed 316 times for 977 yards and six touchdowns, while also adding 494 receiving yards and a TD catch.

Richardson's relationship with Indianapolis soured toward the end of his tenure.

The 24-year-old was suspended for last season's AFC Championship Game against New England after missing the Colts' walkthrough due to a serious family medical situation.

He was inactive the week prior in Denver, which came a week after he saw just one snap in the Colts' wild card win over Cincinnati.

Richardson has carried the ball 614 times for 2,032 yards and 17 touchdowns in 46 career games with the Browns and Colts.
