According to NFL.com, the contract is for three years.

The 35-year-old McCown was released by Tampa Bay in February after signing a two-year contract last offseason. In 11 starts for the Buccaneers, he threw for 2,206 yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

In 2013, McCown had a breakout season with Chicago while filling in for the injured Jay Cutler. He threw 13 touchdowns with just one interception in eight games (five starts).

McCown has played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Cardinals, Lions, Raiders, Panthers, Bears and Bucs. In 73 career games (49 starts), he has thrown for 61 touchdowns, 59 interceptions and 11,033 yards.

The Buffalo Bills were also reported to have interest in signing McCown.

Cleveland had two quarterbacks under contract for 2015 prior to Friday's signing, Johnny Manziel and Connor Shaw. Manziel's status is in flux after a disappointing season that ended with him checking into rehab, while Shaw was an undrafted rookie last season who started Week 17.
