Matt Hasselbeck returning to Indianapolis Colts

Matt Hasselbeck will be back with the Indianapolis Colts for a 17th NFL season in 2015, as the team announced it has agreed to terms with the veteran quarterback on a one-year contract extension.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Hasselbeck was slated to become a free agent next month after completing a two-year, $3 million contract as Andrew Luck's backup in Indianapolis.

Hasselbeck has seen only spot duty during his two years with the Colts, having thrown only 56 passes over that span. The 39-year-old completed 30-of-44 attempts for 301 yards and two touchdowns in four games last season.

The three-time Pro Bowler last started an NFL game while with Tennessee in November of 2012.

Hasselbeck has made 152 starts, the majority of which came with the Seattle Seahawks, over an accomplished career in which he's thrown for 34,498 yards and 203 touchdowns and helped the Seahawks to a Super Bowl appearance after the 2005 season.
