Atlanta Falcons sign K Bryant to contract extension

The Atlanta Falcons signed kicker Matt Bryant to a contract extension on Wednesday.

Bryant could have been an unrestricted free agent.

The 39-year-old Bryant made 29-of-32 field-goal attempts in 16 games for the Falcons last season. He also converted an NFL-best seven kicks from beyond 50 yards.

Since joining the Falcons in 2009, Bryant has made 148-of-167 field-goal attempts (88.6 percent). He has become the second-leading scorer in franchise history, with 666 points. He's 140 points shy of Morten Andersen's club record of 806 points.
