NC State extends Doeren

North Carolina State has extended the contract of head football coach Dave Doeren for two years, through December of 2019.

Doeren guided NC State to an 8-5 record in 2014. The season was capped by a win over UCF in the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl.

It was a huge improvement from his first season with the Wolfpack. In 2013, NC State went 3-9, including an 0-8 mark in conference play.

"When we hired Coach Doeren we realized he had the vision and commitment to elevate our program," athletics director Debbie Yow said. "He is an outstanding leader, is committed to building a championship-level program the right way, and positively impacts the lives of our student-athletes. We look forward with anticipation to what he and his staff will do over the next several years."

Doeren also received an increase in his annual guaranteed salary from $1.8 million to $2.2 million.
