Anderson advances in Memphis; Tomic ousts Dog

Second-seeded Kevin Anderson was an easy second-round winner Thursday at the Memphis Open, while Aussie Bernard Tomic upended fourth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Anderson cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sam Groth, and the once-promising Tomic tripped up the Ukrainian "Dog" 6-1, 7-5 at The Racquet Club of Memphis.

Up next for Tomic in the quarterfinals will be Donald Young, who dismissed fellow American Denis Kudla 7-5, 6-3 on Thursday.

Another American, Steve Johnson, pulled out a 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) comeback win over Dustin Brown.

The Memphis champion will earn $106,565.
