Sacramento Kings prep for busy break, visit Milwaukee Bucks

Wednesday's game between the Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center could be the last for Tyrone Corbin as coach of the Kings.

Reports indicate that George Karl will become the team's third head coach this season, taking over the helm after the All-Star break. Sacramento fired Mike Malone earlier this season, then let Corbin handle the duties on an interim basis.

Barring any setbacks in the final negotiation process, Karl will inherit a team that has lost 12 of its last 14. The Kings have dropped two in a row on the road and will close the so-called first half on Wednesday in Milwaukee.

The Kings started this road trip before the break with a 104-86 loss in the Windy City to the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

Rudy Gay went for 24 points and DeMarcus Cousins had 15 points with eight rebounds and eight assists in the loss. Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum both finished with 11.

Chicago's lead was eight at the half, but the Bulls pulled away in the second half. A 9-2 Bulls burst, coupled with four Sacramento points over the first 7:33 of the third quarter, left the Kings down 23.

"The first half we were down eight, but we were going shot for shot a long time," said Gay. "In that second half they turned up their offense a little more."

The Bucks, one of Karl's former teams, have been playing solid basketball of late. Milwaukee has won seven of its last eight, including five straight at home. The Bucks will play their first two after the break in Brew City.

On Monday, Milwaukee pulled out a 103-97 home victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

Jared Dudley had 19 points, Khris Middleton tallied 18 and the Bucks prevailed.

O.J. Mayo scored 15 points off the bench for the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo nearly recorded a triple-double with 12 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Milwaukee was down 17 early in the game, but battled back for the triumph.

"We didn't come out on fire," said Bucks coach Jason Kidd. "To be able to finish the way we did, it was a good home win."

The Bucks built a 12-point lead in the fourth, but Brooklyn competed. A poorly-timed technical foul on Brook Lopez helped the hosts maintain a comfortable cushion.

The Bucks bettered the Kings in Sacramento on Dec. 18 to snap a two-game series losing streak. The Kings have won three of their last four in Milwaukee.
