PHOENIX, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Richard Sherman believes his first baby will wait to arrive until after his father plays his second-straight Super Bowl.

The Seattle Seahawks cornerback and his girlfriend Ashley Moss are expecting a son, but a recent doctor's visit assured them he won't come by Sunday.

If the baby does happen to come by Sunday, he may have to make a decision that could dramatically alter the Super Bowl.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there," he said. "We're not thinking about the possibility."

Even without the doctor's reassurance, Sherman thinks his son will respect his father's need to be at the game Sunday.

"He's not supposed to come on Sunday," said the soon-to-be father. "Obviously that would change some things, but I think he's going to be a disciplined young man and stay in there until after the game. He's going to do his father his first favor and stay in there for another week or two."

He and Moss have decided on a name for their son but he refuses to divulge the name until the baby's birth.
