NCAA Game Summary - Marshall at Southern Miss

Ryan Taylor scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Marshall Thundering Herd defeated the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 69-54, in a Conference USA battle at Reed Green Coliseum.

Austin Loop added 13 points for the Thundering Herd (6-15, 2-6 C-USA) and Justin Edmonds contributed 11 as Marshall won for the second time in as many games.

As for the Golden Eagles, (6-13, 1-7), Matt Bingaya scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Chip Armelin added 16 points and Norville Carey chipped in with 11 points and 10 boards.

The Golden Eagles shot just 33.3 percent from the field and connected on only 1-of-10 shots from beyond the arc in the first half. The Herd converted on 7- of-15 shots from 3-point range and outrebounded USM, 21-16, as Marshall took a 35-25 lead at the break.

In the second half Southern Miss shot 40 percent from the field and connected on only 1-of-7 shots from 3-point range, allowing the visitors to pick up the double-digit win

Marshall outscored the hosts by a 33-5 margin behind the 3-point line and outrebounded Southern Miss, 41-32.
