LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Former undisputed Middleweight and current IBF Middleweight world champion Jermain Taylor will undergo a mental evaluation in the aftermath of his arrest for battery and terrorist threats.

Taylor is accused of threatening a couple and three children before opening fire during an altercation following Little Rock's Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade. At the time of the shooting, Taylor was embroiled in legal trouble for allegedly shooting his cousin in 2014.

The 36-year-old Bronze medal-winning Olympian was free to attend the Jan. 19 parade because he had been released on bond.

Prosecutors initially sought to revoke Taylor's bond after the parade incident, arguing he presented a "danger to himself and other people," but a Pulaski County judge granted the boxer's attorney's request that he be placed in a lockdown mental hospital for a full psychiatric evaluation.

"Everybody is saying this isn't the Jermain Taylor they know," Taylor's lawyer, Humbert Alexander, told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

"We're trying to figure out who in the heck it is."

The deadline for Taylor's mental evaluation is April 27.
