Coyotes ship Dubnyk to Minnesota

The Minnesota Wild acquired goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday in exchange for a third- round draft pick.

Dubnyk appeared in 19 games for Arizona this season, posting a record of 9-5-2 with a 2.72 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.

The Wild were in need of goaltending depth with Darcy Kuemper sidelined with a lower-body injury he sustained last week in practice. He has missed four Wild games in a row, all losses.

Veteran Niklas Backstrom has been struggling this season. He owns a 3.04 goals-against average and .887 save percentage and he allowed six goals in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to Pittsburgh.

Minnesota has also used 30-year-old John Curry in two games. In four seasons, Curry has played in eight NHL games.

In his six-year career, the 28-year-old Dubnyk owns a 61-76-21 record with a 2.88 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. He was in his first season with the Coyotes after spending his first five seasons with Edmonton and Nashville.

Dubnyk had been out-playing incumbent Mike Smith in Arizona. Smith's goals- against average of 3.52 and .885 save percentage are among the worst in the league.

In other roster moves Wednesday, the Wild recalled defenseman Matt Dumba from Iowa of the American Hockey League while placing blueliners Justin Falk and Marco Scandella on injured reserve.

Falk suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday's loss at Pittsburgh, while Scandella has been out the last four games with an upper-body issue.
