Justin Massey netted 17 points and handed out five assists to help the Florida Atlantic Owls post a 72-63 win over the East Carolina Pirates in non-conference action at FAU Arena.
Marquan Botley tallied 15 points and six assists for FAU (3-3). C.J. Turman notched 14 points off the bench.
Caleb White finished with a game-high 18 points for ECU (4-4). B.J. Tyson tacked on 16 points, hitting 12-of-13 free-throw attempts, while Kanu Aja had 11 points.
FAU dominated the first half, shooting an even 50 percent from the floor, including a 4-of-9 effort from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, ECU had only eight field goals, while missing all six shots from 3-point range.
The Owls coasted to victory in the second half by netting 54.5 percent from the floor.
Despite the loss, ECU still had the advantage in rebounds (33-26).
