According to the Columbus Dispatch, Karageorge had experienced many concussions as a football player, and he had expressed concern over how they had affected his health.

He texted his mother at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday saying, "I am sorry if I am an embarrassment but these concussions have my head all [messed] up." No one knew what to make of it at the time.

"He holds himself to very high standards ... He always wants to make people proud," Jeremiah Webber, a former coach of Karageorge, said of him. Members of the community put up 5,000 fliers with his face on them when he went missing, but he was only found today.
