NCAA Game Summary - Cal State Fullerton at USC Upstate

Ty Greene poured in 29 points as the USC Upstate Spartans downed the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 79-64, in the second round of the USC Upstate Classic at the Hodge Center.

Greene and Fred Miller both finished 8-of-14 from the floor for USC Upstate (5-1), which will take on Wright State in its final round robin matchup on Saturday. Miller netted 25 points, while Damian Goodwin and Josh Cuthbertson posted nine points and six boards apiece.

Lanerryl Johnson paced the Titans (2-4) with a game-high 31 points on 9-of-17 efficiency from the field. Steve McClellan led Fullerton on the glass with eight rebounds in 19 minutes of action. The Titans will play FIU on Saturday to conclude their visit to Spartanburg.

The Spartans went into the intermission trailing, 36-33, after they connected on only 37.5 percent of their field goal attempts and committed 10 fouls in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. Fullerton shot 46.2 percent from the floor and outrebounded the hosts, 25-11, in the first half.

USC Upstate heated up to sink 51.9 percent of its field goal tries and converted 14-of-22 shots at the free-throw line after the break. The Titans' lead slipped away as they were limited to a 2-of-9 clip from 3-point range. The contest was tied at 36 with 17:42 remaining in regulation before the Spartans used a 14-2 run to jump in front for good.

USC Upstate converted the Titans' 17 turnovers into 16 points and assisted 18 of its 26 makes from the floor.
