NCAA Game Summary - Illinois vs. Indiana State

Rayvonte Rice tallied 21 points, seven boards and five steals as the Illinois Fighting Illini completed an 88-62 rout of the Indiana State Sycamores as part of the Las Vegas Invitational at Orleans Arena.

Malcolm Hill went 11-of-12 at the free-throw line en route to 17 points, which he accompanied with eight boards for Illinois (5-0), which will advance to play the winner of the Baylor-Memphis matchup in the next round. Nnanna Egwu, Kendrick Nunn and Aaron Cosby provided 10 points each for the Fighting Illini.

Grant Prusator came off the bench to pace the Sycamores (3-2) with 17 points despite clocking only 16 minutes. Brenton Scott chipped in 10 points, while the Sycamores' starting five combined to hit on just 8-of-30 shots from the floor.

The Fighting Illini took a commanding, 41-20 lead into the break after they drained 6-of-13 tries from behind the 3-point line in the opening period. ISU was limited to 25 percent efficiency from the floor in the first half.

The Sycamores improved after halftime to make good on 46.2 percent of their field goal attempts, but they also converted only 12-of-21 shots at the charity stripe in the second stanza. Illinois sank 14-of-18 attempts at the free-throw line to extend its advantage on the scoreboard over the final 20 minutes of the contest.

The Fighting Illini enjoyed a 46-33 edge in the rebounding battle.
