Gonzaga's Perkins out indefinitely with broken jaw

Gonzaga freshman guard Josh Perkins is sidelined indefinitely after suffering a broken jaw in the second half of Wednesday's 88-76 win over Georgia in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip- Off.

The school said in a release Thursday that Perkins is showing no signs of a concussion, but he will have his jaw wired shut.

"We are praying for a speedy recovery for Josh," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said. "He's a tough kid, and in good spirits today. We know he'll be eager to get back on the court as soon as he can be."

Perkins was injured when he was kicked by Georgia's Kenny Gaines. Perkins spotted up for a 3-pointer from the corner, but faked the shot and drove the baseline. Gaines had gone airborne to block the shot, leading to the collision.

Perkins averaged 5.0 points and 3.4 assists through the first five games.
