The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right- handed pitcher Juan Nicasio from the Colorado Rockies on Monday.

The Dodgers traded a player to be named later or cash considerations for Nicasio, who pitched out of the bullpen beginning in August this past season after going 5-5 with a 5.92 ERA in 14 starts.

Nicasio, 28, had a 3.48 ERA in 19 appearances as a reliever with 17 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings.

He was exclusively used as a starter by Colorado in his first three seasons, going 15-16 with a 4.92 ERA over 55 outings with 231 strikeouts in 287 1/3 innings.

The Dodgers added Nicasio to the 40-man roster and designated infielder Ryan Jackson for assignment to make room.
