The Miami Heat waived guard Shannon Brown and signed center Hassan Whiteside on Monday.
The well-traveled Brown was signed to a one-year deal on Aug. 27 and averaged 4.0 points in five games for the Heat.

Whiteside most recently played three games in the NBA Development League, averaging 22.0 points, 15.7 rebounds and 5.3 blocks for the Iowa Energy.
The 7-foot center appeared in 19 NBA games for the Sacramento Kings during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, averaging 1.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and almost one block per game.
Whiteside was an early second-round draft pick by the Kings in 2010.
